"She knows every corridor, every judge, every clerk in the courthouse."
The attorney representing UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect as well as the lawyer defending rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs are reportedly married to one another. The revelation comes as both cases have become national news.
According to a report from the New York Post, Karen Friedman-Agnifilo, who is defending Mangione in the high-profile killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is the spouse to Marc Agnifilo.
Agnifilo, in his line of work, has been helping Combs deal with charges of sex trafficking and other criminal accusations. Friedman-Agnifilo, at one point, worked in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office until 2021, when she quit her job battling sex crimes in New York and joined a private practice with her husband.
Previous to joining Agnifilo Intrater LLP, Friedman-Agnifilo worked for seven years in the office under District Attorney Cyrus Vance and was second to his command. As a result of her marrital relationship, she has had to step away from cases when her husband was representing different high-profile suspects such as Harvey Weinstein in his rape case.
Friedman-Agnifilo's history with high-profile cases, however, does not stop there. She spent time as top investigator when Seton Hall's former board chair was accused of sexual harassment. The president of the school's wife had made the claim, but there was a lack of evidence in the case.
The wife of the pair, a New York attorney told CNN, has "as much experience as any human being, especially in the state court." The lawyer added, “She knows every corridor, every judge, every clerk in the courthouse."
