Newsweek Duped Again: Parody Account Claiming to be Kash Patel’s Dad Gets Cited in Article | Jordyn M., Resist The Mainstream
In an yet another embarrassing media mishap, Newsweek fell victim to a parody account while covering the intersection of Hunter Biden’s presidential pardon and the anticipated appointment of Kash Patel as FBI Director.
The prestigious publication quoted a satirical social media post, mistaking it for legitimate commentary from Patel’s father.
The confusion began when Newsweek cited a post from “Dr. Parik Patel, BA, CFA, ACCA Esq.,” an account clearly marked as “Parody. Not Investment Advice” in its biography.
The parody account claimed that President Biden pardoned his son Hunter because he was “so worried about MY SON Kashu becoming director of the FBI that he decided to pardon his son … of all crimes.”
After the error came to light, Newsweek quietly removed the reference from their article, but not before the incident sparked a flurry of reactions across social media.
The parody account doubled down on the satire, posting, “Thank you
@Newsweek
for amplifying my message – Hunter Biden was pardoned just in time before my son Kashu could prosecute him for his crimes.”
